I'm having major stereotyping problems with my friend?

I'm in 8th grade, and for now I have found myself, as people would call it punk. My friend Jenny will not let it go. She says things like omigod your such a girly-girl, as if to bring me down. I shrug and say okay. I dyed my hair from strawberry blonde, to a chocolate brown. I love it, she says Omigod why did you do that it doesn't make you punk. I have a dry-erase board in my room, I wrote in pink marker, she says, Ali I thought you were punk why did you write in pink not black? The thing is those things don't matter. I want to say something to her to end this for good. Any suggestions?

Uhm, in the long run this is silly. It doesn't matter and it won't matter, you'll realize that when you get older. No one cares about stereotypes. But, for the record "punk" girls can write in pink too. But, why can't you be "punk" and a "girly-girl"? It sounds like you're not either, and you're just trying to fit in with a certain crowd.

One of my closest friends is just like you. If your friend acts so rude, you should just tell her to back off, and that you can be however you wanna be. I mean, just because you're punk, it doesn't mean you can't like pink. Right?

Your friend is hung up on punk--which was 30 years ago and now old. Tell her that. Also tell her you aren't even trying to be punk (she can if she wants) but are creatively going beyond that and creating your own thing which is so much more fun. Every time she gets into one of those rants, just say "get over it."

This girl doesn't really sound like a friend. If she was your friend then she would accept you as you are and stop trying to change you or be mean to you. Either you tell her how you feel, or just stop being friends with her.
