What sort of clothes would look on me?

I'm 5'5" size 8, 36D, have an hourglass figure, and have short (about 4") brown hair. Most young people's clothes look ridiculous on me because I have a womanly as opposed to girlish type figure so I look stupid in puffed sleeves, jumpers, and other sort of girlish clothes. I love black and bright colours like red, green, pink and purple, as well as dramatic and alternative-type clothing (gothic, punk). I'm 21 and in 4th year. How do I look my age without looking utterly ridiculous and out of place or losing my own sense of style

i have a friend who used to be a glamour model so she had a nice slim figure too and about your height, funky bright tunic style dresses look nice with or without tights. long gypsy skirts,vest top (or fitted top) and a gillet of some sort.even funky tracksuits look good.with your build you can experiment with nice bootcut jeans and a vintage style top too. have fun experimenting

don't wear tanktops that would show the chest too much you want to level the appearance not inbalance it! try nice skinny jeans ( that makes your legs look tiny!) and try a half jacket (with a black dressy shirt) that makes everything look tiny and if you want you can try a nice funky belt!

Oh I so know your pain! I don't want to buy the clothes that fit me either...but the ones made for younger people don't look right. Try going to a thrift store and looking for girly clothes. I've had a bit of luck with that.

All the clothes in the mall kind of suck right now, Unless you spend a lot of money...I find that if you spend more on something it actually fits right, instead of going to Forever 21 or somewhere cheaper.

I got into wearing the wide belts at my actual waist. It works for us hourglass types...that and just getting basic clothes and hot shoes.

If you can sew, that's always an option too. It's just really time consuming and sometimes you make something and end up hating it too...

get clothes that are like scrunched down the sides... its a certain type of stiching that slims you down. its kind of hard to explain.. also, try the fold-down yoga pants, they dont accentuate curves and they dont push fat up... try wearing a tight tank top under your shirts, itll slim you down a bit

I like that style as well, and you kinda describe me. I recommend maybe a baby doll top or a flowy skirt to try and balance out the top. For your stature, don't go below the knee. Tank tops for the summer are nice, but with your bust, i'd try and stay away from the spagetti straps.

The puffy, girly clothes are meant for people who are toothpicks who have little to no curvature. Look for something that accentuates you good features that draws attention to them, whether it be broad sholders, or nice legs. It really is up to you.

hmm. Maybe you should try some straight leg pants, with pumas or diesel shoes. Then for tops maybe a basic tee or blouse. Or go with a looser top and wear a belt around your high waist, that way you enphasize you figure. Also, dresses! They are totally in and create a really feminine look for all body types. For a more mature look try a cropped jacket. Try Urban Outfitters, or Free People. How do you like these?? Good Luck!
