I have 2 sons. A 12 year old, and a 13 year old. The both listen to screamo, punk, rock, and all this other music. My 13 year old sons hair covers one eye. He's bisexual. My 12 year old sons hair kind of covers his eye but its shorter in the back and his hair is blonde. They both wear a lot of black. They both wear makeup. They have the same friends. Their friend has blonde and black hair, hes bisexual too. Why do people label my kids emo? and why do people have such a big problem with this? I'm not here to argue, i'm here to see what others think.

They're labeled as emo because of their hair styles and sometimes emo people are bisexual. There's nothing wrong with it it's just another label just like jocks, preps, and that sort of thing. Nothing to be worried about.

because people are stupid and feel they have to classify everyone...tell them"hey look at least we ain't looking at their under ware or worse"!!! Remember long hair in the 60's?

Well, that's because they are emo but in my mind there is nothing wrong with that.

you just have to be careful of what they do to fill the emo "quota". Tight pants and make up? okay, I can dig it. Cutting and making out with guys even if you aren't REALLY into them? No, that's not good.

You have to make sure that they are themselves is the only thing.

So it's not that people particularly don't like emos (though there are some that do) it's just people don't like it when other are extremists in a social catagory. If you sons were dressing in bag pants so their boxers showed and they had bling and grills, people would hate them too. because they would be extremely in the "Gangster" catagory and they would think they are not being themselves.

How can a 13 year old know he's bisexual unless he's having sex. I don't see why anybody would have a problem with the way they dress cause everyone has their own style and if that's their style then that's just their style. Now it's your business and all but if your 13 yr. old is having sex then you need to be more concerned with that than what people think about his way of dressing.

Are you serious? What in the world did you do to your kids? There is no such thing as a bisexual 12 and 13 year old! If what your saying is actually true, then you must be doing alot of drugs around them, and having multiple sex partners. theres nothing wrong with it at all...its just a style..most people these days dont like emos..b/c they are "mainstream" and its just not accepted yet. but younger kids getting into new music are going to either become emo or "gangster" b/c its the only music they know..different generations have different styles. and about the bisexual thing..i dont agree nor disagree..just as long as they are not active (especially with the guys) b/c theres a greater risk of contracting stds. your children are fine...forget what people say...everyones gotta have something to dissagree on

different people are acting different ways about it for their own reasons. some are just ignorant and intolerant. others are homophobic. others think their lifestyle is the only lifestyle and every one should be just like them. some of us (like me) are old fashioned and expect boys hair to be short and not to wear makeup. they are who they are and really, its nobodys business.

If you let them dress that way, you need to accept what society thinks about it. For me, the biggest concern is by letting them dress that way, no employer will want to hire them. You should think of their future.

When most people find someone who doesnt fit their IDEAL of what a person should look like they label them.Why cant your sons just be who they are and not be labeled.Now I dont know what the heck emo is but it doesnt sound like something that fits into the IDEAL american lifestyle-are you from america-Either way as long as they are happy and productive sons-you keep your head up!Have you ever noticed that a lot of people who dont fit the mold go on to discover and be people who are exceptionally gifted with something? People just don't get it and they're intolerant. I used to dress "emo" and was frequently called "freak" and all the rest of it. I still like the style too and would dress like that every day of my life but seeing as society is so harsh, since becoming pregnant, I've unfortunately "dressed down". I don't want my kid/s to have to go through bullying because of what I wear. They can dress how ever they want and I will always love them, and they can be bi/gay and i'll love them all the same too. It's not fair that people don't like "emo's" just because they dress different and wear their hair a different way and want to be bi sexual. It's life choices and people are just idiotic to not accept that. Because they are people too and they don't all feel depressed/suicidal/like they want the world to end so they're going to kill every one. They're happy to be who they are and so should every one else.

Well, because those are just the first steps to be nobody tomorrow, today you already labeled as bisexual, you aloud them to just paint their hair as whatever, if at their age they really could make their own decisions believe me that this world would be something different, so as kids thats what they are they need advice, they need to respect themselves, and whenever they are adults they will do what they feel like, but if you as a mom just grants whatever they ask imagine when someone just denied whatever they ask? they're gonna be mad....

try to get informed about what does mean to paint your face, what does the color afects in a person.. if you think that is nothing to pay attention, then do not complain how or why people make such a big deal of that. Today is make up, tomorrow some drugs why not mom doesnt care, everything is ok, today my mom says that Im bisexual, tomorrow if I get a disease.......................

Well first of all everyone that answered is ignorant. You dont have to have sex to know what you are attracted to. Every gay person I have ever met knew that they were gay from a very young age, and if they are bi-sexual more power to them, it's nobody else's business what other people do. You did nothing wrong with your kids, everyone will have an opinion, but you have to ignore them. Your kids are just expressing themselves in the way they look. Emo is the same thing that burnouts, preps, jocks nad so on were when I was growing up in the eighties. People have a problem with anyone that looks different then the "Normal" steroetypical look that they expect. As their mom its easy for this to bother you keep your head up

Alright, I'm glad you are an understanding parent. I'm thirteen, and I think I would know all about this bs. Mmkay, first of all the people who call the emo; their not emo. They have their own sense of style. Emo stands for emotionally charged punk rock. Also, your sons are probably just going through that thing that most teenagers go through. The whole, "changing your image to fit in" thing. Trust me, I've been there and done that. Soon, they will probably figure out who they are. Those music types are fine. And, people have a problem on this because they probably think your sons are wannabes and posers. And being bisexual, they probably aren't or not. Either way, in the end they will make friends who accept them for who they are. And those type of people usually don't give shiet about what others think. Which is good, but the stereo type for this is, that most of type of people like that smoke and have a bad school reputation. So, make sure they're doing well in school. And not hanging around with the wrong crowd.

If your son is gay accept him no matter what. It may be just a phase. It may not be. They need to figure out who they are. They need to know that God does not make garbage. Love them be there for them. Dont let them hurt themselves either. What other people think is none of your business. Do the next right thing.Take it a day at a time. I think they need someone to show them to how laugh and not to be so serious. Show them the world isnt black. you wont be able to tell them you have to show them with your actions. I think everyone "labels" kids. I think emo or goth when I hear your description, but to me, that means nothing.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your kids just simply being who they are. I think the reason a lot of other people do is because people from older generations aren't used such diversity.

The bisexual thing in boys who shouldn't be old enough to do anything is a red flag. When exactly did they get it on with guys and how old was their mentor??If any of those answers seem "off" to you then you could have a couple kids who are victims of a pedophile. I was punk in college and a chick but the dark clothes, music, makeup(?) at 12/13 is kind of a scream for help? You seem so non-pulsed by it? My guess is they are either trying to attract your attention OR trying to emulate you?
